The game is completely legal in India. As per Indian law, a "Game of Chance" is one where the outcome primarily depends on luck rather than a player's skill or knowledge. Conversely, a "Game of Skill" is one where a player's expertise, strategy, and decision-making significantly influence the outcome. Such games are considered legal under Indian jurisdiction
In India, rummy has been legally recognized as a game of skill. This was reinforced by a 1967 Supreme Court ruling, which stated that rummy requires a considerable amount of skill, including memory, strategy, and card sequencing, making it distinct from games of pure luck.
However, the legality of online rummy in certain states—such as Karnataka, Meghalaya, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Odisha, Sikkim, Nagaland, Tamil Nadu, Arunachal Pradesh, and Telangana—remains uncertain. Due to this, Metricsdolles Rummy does not currently allow players from these states to participate in our games.
